I provide consultancy services to nurseries, schools, colleges, residential services, Day Services or in the home. Provision of assessment and advice on supporting young people who are Deafblind/Multi-Sensory Impaired (MSI), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) or Hearing Impaired including short reports, informal staff training, discussion of needs and attendance at review meeting.
Assessments I offer full assessment of multi-sensory needs to provide advice towards Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), Social Care under the Deafblind Guidance, transition into adulthood, transition into school or college, early years/ pre-school assessment
Training Training delivered on a variety of subjects related to Deafblindness, MSI or Sensory Impairment, for example Communication, Use of Touch, Specific Causes of Deafblindness such as Charge or Usher Syndromes, Deafblind awareness, Sensory Environments/ Activities, Vision and Hearing. Training can be delivered to parents, professionals, schools and services.
Alongside colleagues in 1989, I developed the first five-day course for Intervenors in the UK. This course has become Nationally recognised and accepted as a criterion for training for those working on a 1:1 basis with children and adults who are MSI/Deafblind.
The course has been approved by Sense for me to deliver alongside colleagues on the NatSIP providers list. This 5-day course is specifically designed for Teaching Assistants, Health Care Workers, Learning Support Workers, Social Care Workers and those employed to work on a 1:1 basis with a child or young person who is congenitally multi-sensory impaired / deafblind, or has a single sensory Impairment with additional complex needs. This course also meets the requirements of the Intervenor Standards issued by NatSIP and the DfE and has been accredited with the University of Northampton (in process of being renewed).

On successful completion of the five- day course the participant will receive a certificate of attendance and can be classed as a Trained Intervenor and is eligible to join the National Organisation of Intervenors and attend annual NOI Network days.

Documents are disposed of in a secure manner, (once approved by instructing solicitors if required). As far as possible, all information held is accurate and up to date.
Security arrangements: Documentation is stored on devices requiring log in credentials
and files are encrypted where relevant. Paper documentation is stored at locked cabinets in locked premises.
Systems are maintained and monitored to avoid an incident of breach.
Should such a breach occur, the data controller would be notified immediately.
When instructed by a specific data controller to destroy documents, this is carried out in a secure and confidential manner
